As of yesterday, the old website, which was first designed as a one-stop-shop for business service and support information, automatically redirects to the new.
According to head of content at myscot.gov, Rachel Dowle, her team is keen to work with business stakeholders and users to ensure the new portal is kept up to date, responsive to the needs of Scottish business users and continuously improved.
The business rates calculator is one of the most popular tools offered and Dowle claims that a number of changes have been made to improve the service.
These enhancements include optimisation for mobile device use, need to know information displayed before the calculator is used, it is easier to find, there is no loss of navigation or content if the back browser button is pressed, search results can be emailed to support smartphone use and it provides direct access to relevant council webpages.
"Our next phase of work will focus on the experience of business users looking to export. This will allow us to further implement our content strategy which puts users before services and organisations, with a clear focus on journeys and tasks to develop our understanding of complex needs," claimed Dowle.
"We are collaborating with key partners across the business sector to understand the landscape of existing services, who their users are and to share outputs such as user research. We are also continuing our work with the UK Government Digital Service (GDS) to improve the journey between devolved and reserved services," she added.
